Bobotie (Toby's version)
Ingredients
- 2 Onions chopped fine
- 1lb chopped (minced) Beef
of Lamb
- 1 cup fresh white breadcrumbs
- 2/3ozs ground almonds
- 4ozs chopped (blanched)
Almonds
- 1 grated eating apple
- 250ml (cup) white wine
- 4 tbsps chutney
- small handful of sultanas
- 1 1/2 tsp of curry powder
(more if you want but do not overpower the taste of the meat)
- 1/2 tsp tumeric
- juice of 1 lemon
Method
- Brown onions then combine
meat.
- Add all the other ingredients
except the chopped almonds and chutney.
- Spread meat into a greased
(not too large) lasagne type dish
- Spread chutney over top
plus chopped almonds
- Meanwhile beat two eggs
with a cup of milk
- Pour this custard over the
top of the meat dish and cook until custard is set (about 45mins at 180oC
{350oF})
- Serve with yellow rice,
green beans, cauliflower, peas.
Note Garlic can be
added as required
